Wayne here. Hope this finds you profitable!
Today, I’d like to share a principle that has served me well over the years, and hopefully you’ll find value in it as well.
You see…just like the fairy tale and the old saying goes,
“You have to kiss a lot of frogs to find Prince Charming!”
translation…
“You have to engage a lot of prospects to find your customers.”
However, I’d like to revise the statement slightly to say…
“You have to engage a lot of the right prospects to find your customers.”
Why the revision?…
Because not everyone who views your ad or visits your capture page is your prospect.
Why?
Because most folks online aren’t looking for your offer. In fact, most folks are surfing the web for reasons that have practically nothing at all to do with your ad. Some are marketers looking to see what the competition is doing; others are information junkies just passing some time, and still others are in search of hope that they might come across something that meets a need or solves a problem that they’re facing.
Who then ARE the RIGHT prospects and how do you find them?
Well, that’s the easy part.
The right prospects are those who not only view your ad, but are compelled to complete and submit their contact information on your lead capture form, because your ad copy presented them with a message they perceived as having the potential to meet a need or solve a problem. Moreover, they willingly allow the relationship building process to continue after receiving your initial response to their request for information.
You find them by presenting a compelling offer via a lead capture page that allows you to begin the relationship building process.
It’s like this…your ads should NOT be directed at SELLING an opportunity. Rather your ads should OFFER a solution to a prospect’s problem or a way to meet a need, thereby opening the door for you and the prospect to begin the relationship building process. Consequently, the RIGHT prospect more often than not becomes a customer by selling themselves, because the relationship building process gives them the confidence to make a buy decision on the basis of trust.
Know this if you’re keeping score, the number of e-mails that you receive informing you that you’ve captured a lead is an indicator of the number of RIGHT prospects that you’ve found. Each time you get that e-mail notification, it means that you have another chance to begin the relationship building process. It means job well done.
Don’t let yourself fall into the trap of trying to explain the features and benefits of your opportunity in your ad campaigns. Engage enough of the RIGHT prospects, and make your solutions available to them.
That’s how you find customers.
